if you know you will be needing the miles for an upcoming trip, switch them out. If not, keep the in the Freedom. JMO...

+1
or you could try to get them to switch the card into a MC and keep it for another year with no fee YMMV
I only paid 15% by switching to dansdeals

You could have them switch it. (you then have the option to get it (the Visa) again with a new sign up bonus)

You don't need to wait. You can call them up now.

Just say you want the other version of the card (MC if you have Visa, Visa if you have MC).

Lose time with what?

i dont know exactly when the fee sets in. if it sets in in a month, i dont want to switch over yet, bc i could still get a month more out of my visa before switching to mastercard.
this doesnt involve a hard pull right?

There is no hard pull by doing this.
If the fee hits, there is a small chance you won't be able to get it refunded. If you are within a month of the year, why risk the annual fee?
When you request it don't tell them that you are doing this to avoid the AF either!

You just went from about to close the card to gaining 10 or 11 months with the other version of this card. Don't be greedy!

Yes that would be an issue.
FYI you might be able to SM them to do this. (obviously if you know your wifes login info)

You don't need a Visa anymore... Some stores only take MC...

It usually takes a couple of days. It will be faster to call with your wife.

the woman did tell me that they are getting rid of all mastercards at the end of the year, and converting them to visas.
so if i can switch to mastercard, ill end up with a visa again anyway in a few months

DROPR.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

but with a mastercard you could reapply for a new visa in a couple months and get a new signup bonus!
