Receiving 75k premier rewards gold promo without being targeted

My wife and I applied and were approved for the Gold card last June/July and got 25k points.  We sent secured messages yesterday (mine to Membership Rewards - Point Balance and hers to Membership Rewards - Program Info).  She was told she'd get the 50k if she spent $500 and I was given 5k points and told that the offer is for new customers. 

I couldn't decide whether to (i) restate my case in a new secured message in her category (Membership Rewards - Program Info), (ii) have my wife respond to her message thanking her and asking if she can take care of my account, or (iii) respond to the same rep who only gave 5k points and argue for the full 50k. 

I chose (iii) and I'm not sure it was the best choice, but we'll see.

I haven't had any luck with my wife's 25K Premiere Gold card she got just last month.  We attempted two online messages a week apart and got pretty much the exact same response:

"I understand your concern regarding 75,000 bonus points.  I'm afraid, it is not possible to receive 75,000 bonus points on your current Card as you applied through a different promotion.  If a Card has been approved under a particular promotion, it is not possible to change the promotion on that Card account at a later date, etc."

I kinda wonder if what they'll do for you depends on your individual status as a valued customer perhaps.  I just applied for a 25K gold card yesterday and will try it out myself.

it took me one try for my first card also but i have 2 gold cards took a while to get a csr who would give me the 50k on my second card

My wife messaged the Program Info category regarding a card obtained in October 2010. Below is their response.  Should she try resending to a different category?  Or, should she try to persuade this category to change their decision?

Please know that different promotions are initiated by our Marketing Department from time to time, and these offers are subject to change.  Regrettably, we are unable to apply an offer to your account which was not available at the time your Card account was opened.  Your Card account was opened in October 2010 whereas the offer against the Bonus Id:5894 was introduced in April 2011.
We appreciate your understanding regarding this matter.  If there is any other way in which we may be of assistance, please contact us.

That's the category that didn't help me.  My wife was successful with Membership Rewards - Program Info.  What is the likelihood that the current message will be reviewed by the new rep or that my account has been noted?

Got it for 2 (self + spouse) on first try, for churns opened late March.
For the record, I was successful through Program Info. [Being that AMEX responds within 10 hours, and they presumably have different shifts, it might be worth noting that I emailed them in the wee hours of the morning, but I dont know for sure if this makes a difference.]

For the second cards we have they denied it. But still, over the past few months, I have two plats (DD's) 4 gold (25k each), and two bonuses (50k each). That's 300k points! And that's only the Amex!  pretty good for just following DD and having good credit.

1. half mine/half hers, we both have the same cards
