You fringe lunatic
Here's the thing, even if you firmly believe that "humanity will survive":
1) there's no guarantee you and your family (the proverbial you) will survive
2) even if you are convinced (read: emunah) that you will survive, it will likely require a massive adjustment and upheaval in your life (e.g. moving far away from your current home)

Still don't understand why frum people aren't doing more to prepare for the adjustment (e.g. buying real estate elsewhere)

Kinda surprised this is on frum media - this is a massively minority opinion in our community. Is the tide turning (pun unintended) - are we waking up to realize that maybe the scientists are correct?

Now what do we do about it? How do weatherize our homes and infrastructure for severe weather? Should we pick up and move somewhere more inland that won't be as prone to these severe weather patterns?
(This isn't tackling the potential socio-economic side effects severe weather will have on the country.)

1) based on offhanded remarks I've heard the past 10 years; the majority of the comments in this thread are a microcosm.
2) based on our community's actions - no one is acting like they're thinking about it

Sorry I was unclear. What caused this to be the prevailing sentiment?

Ah yeah it's the same symptom we see in our community wrt covid:
Politics.

So once again we're going to conflate politics and science and throw out the baby with the flood water.

(Please don't turn this into a political discussion.)

Because we already have religion, we have no need for the religion of climate change.

As much as it is a religion on one side, the denialist side has equal religious fervor. The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle

Probably. Although most of those labeled as "deniers" are probably more likely to be in that skeptic middle.

You're gonna be a bit more specific here, what exactly is this "it" you're referring to?

"Most" is rough word. It depends on who is doing the labeling. I could counter that most of those labeled as climate change religionists (or whatever you want to call them) are also in (roughly) the same middle ground as those skeptics. This divide is kept strong by the media (on both sides), and applies to many arguments besides climate change.

Because we already have religion, we have no need for the religion of climate change.
So don't focus on whether it's man-made or not; that's a bogeyman, liberal myth etc.

The focus should be on preparing for something which is becoming more and more apparent that it's real.

This is such a classic take on so many issues.

“I’m open minded enough to acknowledge that the opinion I strongly hold might be too extreme (and a middle ground is correct), but the labeled fanatics on my side are more likely to be the middle ground than the fanatics on the other team”.
