Refinancing mortgage for a lower rate
« on: December 06, 2016, 06:02:48 PM »
Hi, I am looking to refinance a home mortgage for a lower rate. I am currently paying 4.5%, the mortgage is less than 50% of the home value, and we BH have good credit and income to support. I'm looking for an easy to deal with bank.
Thanks!

Rates have jumped in the last month since the election, up in some cases 50-75 basis points.  I would look for a good mortgage banker that can shop around for you...

Rates are around 4.25%. I don't know what your situation is, but I highly doubt at 4.5% it's worth it for you to refinance.

Just checking one of my CUs I see 3.254 APR for 30 year fixed.

Maybe they are the exception and haven't increased rates yet. It might be possible to still get that rate though. That was Navy Federal.

That must be for a VA loan.

I guess they haven't updated their entire website. It's still just under 4 which may make sense depending on how long they want to stay in the house.

Spoke to NFCU today and their best interest rate is if you are putting down 30%. Anyone know of other options?

Great rates, straight forward, easy online portal, and great staff. I'm in middle of refinancing right now with him for the first time but I have friends and family the have done it with him two or three times and they're also crazy over him.
