question is if u can enter a number from a 2-hr parking zone when u parked in a 1-hr zone or even sometimes i buy the commerical ones for 3 hours. with meter receipts theres no way for meter maids to know where u bought it from wonder if they can track it now electronically?

Why can't they tell that if you're parked in a 1 hour zone, and the starting time on your ticket is two hours before the ending time, that you bought it in a different zone?

I thought of one workaround. Let's say you need to park for four hours in a two hour zone. Buy a paper ticket (these are not plate specific) for the first two hours, then after two hours, add another two hours electronically.

In boston , I was refilling my meter by phone every 2 hours and started getting "over time limit" parking tickets. They actually enforced the 2 hour limit. I was told they started enforcing it after they developed a mobile pay app.

I don't think my way is traceable, unless they have a picture of the ticket in your car...

There's actually a very legitimate reason for maximum times. It's so that no one person should hog the spot for an extended period, but rather have people come and go. Parking for extended times can hurt businesses by not having available space for clients/shoppers.
