What flights do they book?  I see lower fares on OTA.
Also is there a way to book a flight with plat 50% back, when you don't currently have the full points, but enough for 50% back?

They use Orbitz search engine. Lower fares on other OTA's is not gonna help you.

No.

I see now there  can be a huge pricing and availability difference between what is online and what you can get by calling.

Yes

But I've not used their site before, possibly I am mistaken. Not very impressive compared to other OTA

For example, if you want to check multi city, A>B B>C, you can't. only option is 3 legs.

Calling them incurs a charge of $39.

The fee may not be a bad thing if it would qualify for credit card trip protection when booking with miles.

Any ideas if it would?

The multi city was just a glitch, you dont need to enter the 3rd city.

And since the $39 fee must be charged to the biz card there is no trip protection.

Just call and say it's not working on my end. Please waive the fee

I really like the Amex 50% bonus, first one done, working on second for little further out.

Booking with amex plat biz doesnt offer any travel benefits, delay, cancel etc.

The cancel fee on the few tickets I looked at to TLV is $450, pretty steep. And then I'd be left with the rest ($2500) in a voucher that expires.

I guess most people here dont worry about travel insurance, but I've had to make made some claims.

Any ideas besides buying travel insurance for $100-$150?
