Correct, for shabbos I'll go the extra mile. weekdays I wear slip-ons. I'm a Kohen and I live in Israel so I really feel the difference.
Ah, just start davening in a שפיץ חב"ד shul and you won't be expected to do it other than Mussaf on Yomtov, just like in the good old US of A.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

I wear slip ons, so I'm not sure, but is it possible to untie laces, remove your shoes, or them back on again and you're them in less than 2 minutes?
Serious response time!

Yes. Use the Ian Knot.
Takes a bit of time to get accustomed to it, but after a while you can untie AND retie a shoe in under 15 seconds (with a double knot)

Its an undisputable fact (amongst those that know fact and design ) that lace ups dress shoes look better with a suit than loafers. For that reason I wear them on shabbos.

I fear the time I spend learning how to do that knot will offset the time saved. Besides, what if I start using Ian knots on my ties? The TSA will really be peeved. Gosh darn this is tough.

Also, what about the laptop? Do you have a super efficient system for getting it in and out of my carry on within the 26 seconds I will have saved with the Ian Knot?

The finished "Ian Knot" is identical to either the Standard Shoelace Knot or the Two Loop Shoelace Knot. Because it was tied much more quickly and symmetrically, the laces suffer less wear and tear and thus last longer.

After many years of using other methods, it takes time to retrain, but I'm starting to get the hang of it, and I think it is really an efficient method.

Hey, you never know what you will gain out of DDF.
It's been several months now since I learned about this knot, and it is really remarkable. Other than the ease and speed, the fact that shoes don't come untied without even using a double knot, is one of the main benefits.

I just came across an article that describes a study about spontaneous untying of shoe laces, and wondered if the Ian knot was included in the study. http://www.csmonitor.com/Science/2017/0412/What-makes-a-knot-strong-Scientists-have-figured-out-how-your-shoelaces-untie-themselves
