Hi, I applied for the Amex Platinum charge card recently with a 50K MR points signup bonus after spending $1000, which I met, and the points posted. But I'm a little disappointed because I now see there's an offer for 100K MR points (offer 3882). I feel like I missed out by applying early to the card... I wanted to know if there is a way that I can receive these additional 50K MR points as I consider myself a dedicated member of Amex for a few years already with a perfect history
I am writing about this now because a similar story just happened to me with chase.I applied for a credit card with a 25,000 point bonus while at the same time they were running a similar offer with a 50,000 point bonus.It took only one phone call and I verified that I was eligible for the better bonus and a few weeks later the additional points posted.
I was hoping that I can get similar consideration from American Express and have the additional points credited to my account.Thank you very much for taking the time to read this message

OK, so I just got my response via SM and it was.... GOOD  . But it was definitely of a different nature than the ones previously posted. Here goes:

"Hi XXXXX,

Thank you for contacting Membership Rewards Department.

I understand your concern and wish to inform you that we have various promotions throughout the year which are solicited through various marketing channels. We do not extend a current promotion to Cardmembers who have applied and approved with a different promotion.

However, as an exception and considering your Valued Cardmembership with American Express, I have made the bonus points promotion adjustment to your account.

I have issued 50,000 bonus points to your account.

Now, you have XXX,XXX pending points in your account and they would be made available in seven to ten days after the upcoming billing statement has closed provided the account stays current.

I hope this was helpful. It was a pleasure assisting you.

I couldn't get this 100k via SM, so I called and asked for a supervisor. Twice there was no supervisor available, so I had to call back. Today I spoke to a supervisor named Tom, who said he'd check with his manager, he came back and said he had to find the promotion  (Maybe he didn't hear me mention promo 3882), He told me I will need to call him back 6-8 weeks after I fulfill the spend requirement, oh well. Ten minutes later he calls me back and tells me he found a promo to apply now, and I'll get the 50k now (within 24 hours) and the other 50k when I spend 1k on the card. He did give me his number/extension, but I'm reluctant to share it until the points post.

They told me 30 days from statement date of the statement where you spent $1,000.

By me they posted a few days after I hit $1K in transactions (but not under pending).

I called last night. The rep said it was targeted and she couldn't help. I pressed her a bit and she said she would send an inquiry to corporate.

Today they called be back (I did not expect that. I thought she was just giving me a line) and posted an additional 50K to my account.

Woudl never have even thought about this with out this thread.

well, i sent 2 SMs to 2 different departments. when i sent the second one, the reply was "i see you didn't understand the previous reply, so let me explain again..."
then i called and she said let me see the dates that that bonus ID was active and let me see when your account was opened...she said NO .
sooo frustrating
