All I know is that I went to a chanuka party and everyone there told me that it's assur to go there.
And I'm not in yeshiva. So whoever was behind this campaign failed miserably.

Well if the goal was really to get everybody, not just yeshiva, to know that it was assur then yes, it succeeded. If not then it was just an unintended consequence.

I (believe I) am extremely open-minded. Unless open-minded means adding on or removing anything from my G-ds words. I have nothing but utmost respect for gedolim and for chumras. As long as it doesn't get too finely woven in and mistaken as Halacha.

Don't know what your rambling about Lashon horo.
I got the messages forwarded to me and didn't really pay attention.

Then I met a bunch of working guys at a party saying that it's completely assur to go and I cant even question why.

So yes, whoever was behind it, failed miserably.
And I agree with those that think yeshiva mussar should be given as a mussar shmooze in yeshiva, not on some gimmicky sign that's gonna get passed around.

If you can't, then just ignore it and move on. It's not for you.

If you see this sign and for some reason it bothers you, irks you, makes you feel guilty, resentful or worthless. You should analyze why it is that you are feeling this way:
If it's because you realize that you are so far removed from the yeshiva world and yeshivalite that you can't even relate... Then these feelings should be channeled for good. - Take it as a wake up call.

If you still can't deal with the fact that you can't relate, and feel the need to delegitimize, and demean the message and it's messengers, you're sadly pretty lost. Good luck!

Sheker isn't a way to bring about a message. There's nothing wrong (usually) with chumras. It's when they masquerade as halacha that the issues start. The aveira that likely had the greatest impact on the world, the first aveira to ever be done, came about precisely because of this issue.
