So whether the oil was left in the menorah or in the pach, the nes was in the menorah? How does that make sense?
No in the second teirutz it was NOT in the menora since it had nothing to do with the hadlaka of the first night. You are complicating things for no reason.

That's in the third terutz.

In the second terutz - "nishar HaPACH malei".
Fine, maybe the hava amina is that the pach was full in the morning. Either way, the second answer is that this was considered a nes nikar on the first night..

I just saw the Beis Halevi writes the opposite. Had they gone ahead and used narrower wicks (1/8th of the usual thickness), they would naturally had enough oil for eight days. They only merited the miracle because they insisted on using the regular width wicks.
+1 and that's why we are makpid on mehadrin

I assume you mean the first terutz...

There was enough oil to but for one full day, but it burned for eight.

Not so shver, but the pashtus have is more like the second/third terutz.

He doesn't explain the technicalities of the nes.
He just says that they could have used very thin wicks and wouldn't need a nes...- The nes could have still been that they did use thin wicks and it burnt as bright as thick ones.
