Toronto:

Hotels

Park Hyatt Toronto
By no means a luxury hotel, but a good value for CC anniversary nights.
Located in mid-town, around a 20 minute drive (longer during evening rush hour) to the Jewish community @ Bathurst/Lawrence, a few minutes less than that to the restaurants on Eglinton.

Attractions

CN Tower
Toronto's iconic tower, was the tallest freestanding structure in the world from 1975-2007
Nice views, but only if it's a clear day. If it's overcast you'll be surrounded by clouds at the top and you won't be able to see too much.
At the top, there are indoor and outdoor observation decks and a glass floor.
Edgewalk at the CN Tower-
For ~$200 CDN you can walk out (harnessed) on a thin railing-less platform at 116 stories high.
Takes a few hours and is not cheap by any means, but could be cool.

Ripley's Aquarium
Downtown, right next to the CN Tower
288 Bremner Blvd Toronto, ON M5V 3L9
Excellent aquarium. Very expensive

Hockey Hall of Fame
Excellently done. Really cool to be able to touch the cup
Downtown, 30 Yonge St Toronto, ON M5E 1X8

Activities on the Way from NY:
  • Krispy Kreme in Scranton - on Moosic Street, under KOA with supervision from local Scranton Rav - R' Fine, recommended by Rabbi Eidlitz from KosherQuest.com via email to @Yehuda
  • Corning Museum of Glass ($20) - large museum of varying glass displays and creations, glass blowing demonstrations, has high reviews although @Yehuda didn't think it was that amazing
  • Watkins Glen State Park (free, $8 parking) - hike in a gorge along several waterfalls, more of an upward step climb than a hike which is quite strenuous, @Yehuda recommends going 20 minutes in to see the first few falls then turning back, if you go the whole 1-1.5 hours you can wait for a shuttle school bus to take you back to the parking lot for $5 cash
  • Letchworth State Park - hot air balloons
  • Finger Lakes - can go on a boat cruise or just find a nice place to pull over for a good lunch spot, @Yehuda took Hwy 14, which runs alongside Seneca Lake and found a grassy area with benches.
  • Strong Museum of Play in Rochester ($15) - not exactly on the most direct route, but a fantastic, huge museum of toys and games (many of which you can play) for all ages
  • Howe Caverns ($25) - boat ride in a cave, but close to Albany, so not on a great route to Toronto
  • DestingyUSA is great place to stop for some fun activities...The mall has an escape room, indoor ropes course, virtual reality, Dave & Busters, WonderWorks museum/entertainment center and more...I found the prices to be quite reasonable.

If we would like to get from YTZ-Billy Bishop airport to YYZ-Pearson Airport.....

1 - What is the cheapest way (public transportation?) to do this?
2 - Is it safe, especially for obviously Orthodox Jews?
3 - How would we pay if we only have American Dollars and a credit card?

The more details the better, as we are not familiar at all with the area.

Thank you!

You can get from YTZ to YYZ by shuttle to Union Station, and then take the UP (Union Pearson) train. Depending on the timing of the shuttle and train departures, this could take you 40 to 60 minutes. Or you can Uber/Lyft which can take anywhere from 25 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on what time of day
:-)

1. As @Chuck2 said, the UP express is probably cheapest. You take a free shuttle from YTZ to Union Station, and then the UP train from Union to YYZ. The train costs around $12 CAD per person. (1 CAD = ~0.70-0.75 USD) Alternatively, you could Uber/Lyft from YTZ to YYZ. I assume that would cost $30-40 CAD (check for yourself on the Uber app), but of course can cost more if there's lots of traffic. If you're travelling with 2+ people, it already looks tempting to just take an Uber, IMHO.

2. Yes.

3. Uber/Lyft take credit card :) and IIRC the UP Exress does too.

Thank you Chuck2 and Yehudaa.
We heard there is a way with public transportation for around $3.
Any idea what that is?
Thanks.

Yes, but I wouldn't recommend it. IIRC, these are your options: You can take the Porter shuttle to Union Station, take the Subway Line 1 (in the direction of Downsview) to Spadina Station, switch to line 2 toward Kipling, get off at Kipling, and take the 192 bus from there to YYZ.

Alternatively you can take the Line 1 subway from Union to Lawrence Ave W (not to be confused with Lawrence Station), and take the 52A bus (I think that's the #, maybe it's the 52D?) to YYZ. This involves one less switch but will take longer as the bus ride from Lawrence Ave W is long.

Either of those options would cost you $3.25 CAD (remember to take a transfer before exiting each station), but as you can see, the quickest way for $3 involves a shuttle bus, 2 subways, and a city bus (which can be crowded). I'm not sure how much luggage you have, but it's not something I'd want to do even if I didn't have luggage. Keep in mind that you have to walk 5-10 min to transfer at Union, a few min to transfer at Spadina, and then maybe a bit of a walk at the airport (I'm not sure where exactly the busses stop at YYZ). I have no idea how much time any of these options would take.

IMHO, I'd suggest Uber/Lyft or the UP Express.

Which local establishment would deliver breakfast to a YYZ airport hotel? The manager told me he was only able to locate groceries which would need preparation.

In the end the Hilton Airport was out of range for all kosher UberEats establishments. The hotel gave a $45 CAD credit against my hotel bill which worked out just fine for us anyhow since we were checking out and going to the Jewish area either way. I spoke with MacDaniel Phillips who told me that the kitchen does have some sort of arrangement which needed 48 hours. I had reached out to them more than 48 hours prior but New Years was in the middle and may have contributed. Either way, I would imagine that a restaurant there can work some arrangement out with many of the hotels and have a decent amount of business from it if the word gets out.
