Can We All Come to an Agreement on Thread Title Format?

The "Deals" board gets tens of new threads started daily and the clutter is just unbelievable. When browsing through deals I find my eyes just floating from left to right and back left... just trying to sift through relevant information to see whether a thread is worth opening. IMHO I think it's about time we all come to an agreement on a standard format for thread titles.

There are 4 basic components of a title:

• Product name
• Quantity
• Price
• Seller/merchant

Examples:

• Amazon: Lay's Classic Potato Chips 24ct $5.99

Seller/merchant > Product name > Quantity > Price

• Amazon: Lay's Classic Potato Chips $5.99 24ct

Seller/merchant > Product name > Price > Quantity

• Amazon: Lay's Classic Potato Chips $5.99

Seller/merchant > Product name > Price

• Amazon: $5.99 for Lay's Classic Potato Chips 24ct

Seller/merchant > Price > Product name > Quantity

• Lay's Classic Potato Chips 24ct $5.99 - Amazon

Product name > Quantity > Price > Seller/merchant

• Lay's Classic Potato Chips $5.99 24ct - Amazon

Product name > Price > Quantity > Seller/merchant

• Lay's Classic Potato Chips $5.99 - Amazon

Product name > Price > Seller/merchant

• $5.99 for Lay's Classic Potato Chips 24ct - Amazon

Price > Product name > Quantity > Seller/merchant

There are more components that are added many times, but these are the four basics. So how about agreeing on something. Maybe I will add a poll.

Great idea, but i think compliance would be hard with this.

Ive seen other forums where they have a feature in which hovering over the mouse of a title in search results displays the first post of the thread. This way you will know if its worth opening. Is that a possibility?

I couldn't care less which format of the above with quantity. If it has the info it is good. Hatzlacha getting even a few people to kep to it who don't already.

You're saying two separate things. If you couldn't care less, I'm not here to make you care, and frankly, good for you. On the part of getting people to stick to a format, I agree that it'll never be near prefect (hopefully I'm wrong on this one  ) but at least the few big thread starters and perhaps some others will conform to some standard so that at least some of it gets set straight.

Thought of that, but you'll need an infinite amount of subforums if it's by product type. And even by merchant it still means digging through many subforums just to browse for latest deals. I don't think it's ideal. (just my .02)

On the part of getting people to stick to a format, I agree that it'll never be near prefect (hopefully I'm wrong on this one  ) but at least the few big thread starters and perhaps some others will conform to some standard so that at least some of it gets set straight.

My point is that the format is not really the point rather that the information be there. You are missing the ikar and being busy with the tafel.

My personal taste is to opt out of posting quantity in titles. All someone wants to see in a title is if it's relevant to them. Do I need the product? Does the price make sense? Ok, let me go into the thread to check more details to see if it's really for me.

Qty is needed for packs.

Tissue box count is a description of the product but like shampoo bottle size.
