Disclaimer: I have never been. But tell your wife that there's no time for that. You'll have a second trip to Israel. If you were going for 2 weeks you wouldn't see everything you'd want to see in Israel. And you're only going for one week.

Yes. Though they are trying to tighten restrictions on day visitors.

If we like it (Israel) I can see a return visit not being an issue.

It's just traveling is one day, possibly another day for jet lag, Petra would be 2 days likely, and now you have 3 days for Israel, you won't even get out of Jerusalem with that much time...

You would want to do a side trip from israel over land? would fly from TLV?
or fly RJ direct from ORD to AMM and spend a day there and then continue on via land or air?

Can't do Petra and Israel in a week.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Can't do Petra and Israel in a week.
Keep in mind that not everyone travels like the classic DDFer. While most here won't think of spending more than 2 days (besides shabbos) in Madrid, Rome, Prague.... Ask the average tourist and the standard responses are a week, 10 days, two weeks...
Everyone here says you need weeks to see Israel but for most travelers is it really different than say Portugal or Italy?
Not everyone has a personal connection to Israel and if someone can properly "do" Rome in a day you can do Jerusalem in one also.

It depends on the type of trip he wants, but along the same lines I'd be shocked if h goes back a 2nd time.

yes I have. Definitely beautiful. I don't know how feasible it is as it would rip -minimum -two days out of your trip if you want to do it properly.
If you do end up going and ATV'ing is your thing it is worth it to check out ATV'ing at Wadi Ram (or rum- don't remember the correct spelling). Open desert type, not the forest obstacle course type. And IIRC it is not that far out of the way from Eilat on the way to Petra.
With kids though, I'd imagine it would nt work.

My prediction is that he goes back multiple times and dreams of retiring there.

This thread make me think of Freddie pounding his fists and screaming at his monitor wondering how JTZ is gonna end up at the Kosel before he makes it to the Ohel.

That is a very, very good point. You've thrown down the gauntlet. (PM'ing @JTZ now...)

That was my thinking when she mentioned it. I know from booking flights for members that AMM>TLV is a puddle jump.

Times aren't always great. Crossing via land is also an option.
