Stolen object from ups
« on: August 03, 2016, 03:35:09 PM »
I had an expensive item shipped to  me and i received the box it had a roll of contact paper inside to replace the weight.  I did not insure it or declare the value . Does anybody have any experience with this?

You shipped a package to yourself? Did the package look opened or damaged when you received it?

You can try opening a claim with UPS, but if there was no declared value I doubt you'll get more then $100 (automatic included insurance).

The major carriers offer insurance for a reason..

Anyone know if ups shows they delivered the package and left it by door and person claims never received it, will ups be responsible for the declared package value even though shows delivered? Thanks

Was this for express shipment?

In any event I don't think you have any recourse, if the tracking number doesn't show that it ever got to UPS.

I almost never use UPS drop boxes. I always find a UPS truck somewhere and hand my shipment to the driver.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

I like to give it in at a UPS center, so I get a receipt. You're not worried about leaving it with an anonymous driver w/o a receipt?

not express. usually also hand over but passed a drop box and couldn't resist... the tracking was never scanned but its not at drop box anymore either.

UPS is not USPS, not FedEx, and not ELAL. I trust UPS drivers. They have a very good company culture.

That's reassuring. However, I guess we each have our own UPS method. ;)
