I think this promo was discussed before and when I spoke to them on the phone they said that it is available to current capital one cc holders who don't have a checking with them yet (besides the fact that I think it expired in the end of Feb. Unless it started again)

Not all, some would be fair, I'm happy to share.

I've opened the account online like a month ago, and added the aforementioned promo code. I funded it with an external Chase transfer, and also had my state tax-refund deposited there, hoping one of those would post as a direct deposit I guess I'll find out soon enough.

As Netzih pointed out, the promo expired 3/31/2011, so unless you have a new promo code, you're outta luck. If you got a 3/4 digit code, it's likely other people can use it too, so maybe post it here for the benefit of the DDF community.

They told me the Chase transfer (my initial deposit) didn't qualify. I doubt the rest would be good.

I mean a transfer (of any sort) from Chase won't qualify. I'm banking (pun) on the fact that that the tax-refund deposit will qualify.

If they accepted it then they accepted it. I don't think one Cap1 acct differs from another, though their rules might change.

Update: My DD was ny NYS tax refund. Points posted within 30 days.

I'm honestly not sure. This was much more lucrative than the Key bank iPod offer IMHO.

+100. Maybe next time people will be more prudent. Granted this offer required a real direct deposit (not just any ACH), but there was no $500 minimum, only one deposit, and no transaction requirements (i.e. 10 debit purchases a month for three months or whatever).
