When I was configuring the kitchen for my house we left empty slots between the cabinets to be able to fit slim jim garbage cans using 30 gal bags and we are so happy that we did that.

That's what I thought aygart meant, but after seeing the pictures from aygart I see he meant differently.
 Great idea to have a cut out in the middle of the counter(great feeling to be able to push everything into the hole).

 Ps; Does your uncle have the cut out in all the counter tops? (meaning one for fleishig,milchig,parve?)

With the garbage like this you can do the same by pulling the can out a bit and sweeping stuff over the edge. We do it all the time.

BTW, there is a third one too. One facing milchig, one facing fleishig, and one for the dinette. Having 3 garbages also means they go out less frequently.

We thought about putting a door there, but decided not to since if it is part of a cabinet it bcomes difficult if even possible to use the large cans and to make it out of a dummy door is not durable among other reasons.

Those don't even fit a regular 13 gallon can, forget about 30. They are all facing direction where you don't see them coming in to the kitchen.
