I'd have to say, I think he is catering to a much different crowd. A lot of the people who browse his site are more likely to have not heard of many of the concepts discussed. Here, I feel like most of us had heard of these concepts from someone somewhere before we were actually introduced. I always find it fascinating that the Amex rep occasionally informs me of the basic card benefits when I call to ask an unrelated question. "Did you know if you book with MR points, you can receive a 50% return on your flight?" Point is, many have no concept of a credit card being more than a helpful spending tool, and I feel his site attracts more of those people than DDMS does.

The fact is that you're one of the few bloggers that actually knows the game, instead of just reposting garbage from Reddit. I think people can appreciate that, and it is apparent even to someone who isn't too educated. Aside from that, you cater to a demographic without much competition for that specific group, and they follow you loyally both for credit card/mileage posts, travel tips, and deals. I don't think there's another site that combines that quite like you do.

I think that DDMS has been successful for a few reasons

1. The fact that it's a Jewish based site ( with an eye out for deals that are interesting to the community ) for example the Elal deal etc.

2.  The fact that there are responses to ppl questions from Dan and the Mods. Ppl are getting helped with their deal questions.

3. The interaction between the blogger ( aka Dan) and the viewers brings a feeling like being part of a big picture )

4. DDF. No explanation necessary


I don't see the "seekret " part of having a  "scrappy site" in the picture at all.
