I like first column, second and third rows.
But I only like those out of these options. I think we can do way better.

Why not think about what the site is about, and try to convey that (to a certain extent, without creating too much clutter) with the logo, rather than just the name?

Look at the fortune 500 companies, especially web focused, do they have images etc in the logos?

It's called change.That does happen sometimes...

I have no problem with change, I just don't like that shade of green.

I was referring to the words Dansdeals. Is the issue that the term Dansdeals is discriptive? I've gotten approved with such an issue for a supplemental register.

We have that, it just has to be one word is all. So an apostrophe doesn't really work.

Right now the entire new design is green (although I personally prefer blue) because I think it will be easiest for users to get used to the new design based on there being lots of green in the old design....

Current design look almost entirely blue to me. Besides the date and time of a post.

I agree with you guys about a Design Contest, I think it's a great idea (I would obviously be excluded from it)

Also have to explain that this logo in the bookmark people use to save DD and it is how they will navigate between tabs and be able to quickly find DD.

Even without anything descriptive there is plenty past the double D which each one is a variation of.

How about a happy wallet surrounded by the words DansDeals.com?

Or better yet, have Dan try to synthesize into very short description what his site is all about, then try to brainstorm around that for a logo.

With all due respect, if you look at http://www.unifiedmediallc.com/blog/2011/02/top-fortune-500-logos-deconstructed/ you will see that most logos actually have the full company name, and design actually goes beyond it. Very few companies will use initials for the logo (GM - but they are known by that name - if I'm not mistaken, the only one that has initials which is not commonly known by the initials, except to stock investors, is ADM).

You can always say Apple, BlackBerry, Microsoft, none have any connection to what they actually do with the name or logo. However in the marketing world is accepted that the logo and names should be synonymous to what you actually do.
