Do a bit of research.
Check on line to see what the new 'bells and whistles' are on the newest machines.
See the prices.
Go to a reputable local place and see what they recommend, and what they charge.
Don't forget to factor in tax and delivery charges, which may be free locally.
Also check out HomeDepot and see what coupons you can get to bring down their price.

If you can wait, there are certain seasons where the appliance manufacturers give nice rebates.  (I don't remember when)

Get a simple, cheap machine without any bells or whistles. Will last longer and not break down or grow mold on the doors.

Fancy machines break more often, are more costly to repair and have other issues such as mold on front loaders.

My .02 wish I did the same.
IMO, same applies to other appliances like fridges, ovens and microwaves.

Do you know what seems to stop working?
The dryer is not spinning? No heat blowing? Or doesn't start when clicking the start button? Why not repair it if it's a small problem? What makes you say it's broken?
