There are but they are very risky. The IRS's A/A can be very serious.

I'd advise you to use taxact.com, select a paid package and go through all the steps... it will show you exactly how much your refunds will be.. and you dont need to pay unless you actually file.
then use a free version (whatever ny will offer - last year they offered H&R, or try the new creidtkarma) and see if it comes out the same amount..

To use the expression "it's Greek to me", taxes and any other financial info is Greek to me. I don't get any of it and I just smile and nod.

I've always used the family CPA to file but I feel it's time to finally cut the cord and do things on my own and I'm looking at turbo tax.

Based on their checklist I would need deluxe, I'm curios to hear from the gurus if I would be able to handle it myself or should I continue being spoonfed?

TIA!!

If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

Given that you have your tax forms from previous years to compare to, as long as nothing is vastly different this year you should be able to do it on your own with confidence. If you have a small amount of patience and willingness to spend time checking the forms before clicking submit, you can do it. Then you'll just need to go to the family CPA when something new comes up to ask how to handle it.
