I think if you have to fly Y one direction, it may as well be the return. I mean, it stinks to end vacation anyway, so what's a little more hurt?

I agree. Want to take advantage of the booze and be festive on the way there.

Also by the end of trip my gf might be too annoyed with me to get intimate in the suite. Lol.

Will I still be allowed to wine and dine in the First Lounge in SIN upon arrival?

Disagree. Would much prefer to have a lower cabin on the outbound (as nothing can temper the excitement of starting a vacation), while having an excellent product on the inbound can help mitigate the depression of ending a vacation.

+1, the whole trip will be ruined by the ending.

I wouldn't go that far. I've been on trips where the outbound is J and return is Y and it didn't ruin the whole trip for me.

If I had a choice I would say F/J departure, Y return.

Usually for me I rather have the better flights on the way there to start my mood to get higher. For the return I know the trip is ending anyways and for me when I get on that plane the trip has ended.

While I'd agree with this in theory. I'd still rather fly F/J on the outbound so I could hit the ground running and maximize vacation time by getting to the destination well rested.

Another valid point. I've yet to try it in the reverse, but so far a Y return hasn't been too bad.

With any scenario the end of the trip will be miserable, so might as well start it off with a bang!!

Way there for sure ! It puts u in a good mood a few days b4 yet while on vacation your in a good mood anyhow.
I have done a few trips like this already. Don't feel a need to splurge on premium cabins the way back.

My opinion is to end off with premium if only one way is an option. There is a wonderful Ted talk on this idea https://www.ted.com/talks/daniel_kahneman_the_riddle_of_experience_vs_memory?language=en

Isn't the journey a very big part of the trip??
