The real answer is...it depends.
If I was flying to BOB for 5 nights and had to fly one-way in whY, then I probably would do the return.
But if I was flying to hike Machu Picchu for a couple of days then I'd want to go into in well-rested in order to hit the ground running.
That's a good point.
If time on the ground is so short that arriving well-rested would save a trip that would otherwise be very difficult timing-wise (see Machu example), I'd agree.
