It's the new Lakewood at its best....
http://www.thelakewoodscoop.com/news/2017/01/video-the-results-of-the-gourmet-glatt-3-minute-free-shopping-spree-challenge.html

I don't understand how someone actually paid for this marketing campaign.
When I go shopping I want it to be finished quickly, and GG is never a quick stop. What are they trying to say- that the store is time consuming? That they make gimmicky promotions that no customer can ever enjoy? The last time I was there I couldn't find the spices section because it isn't marked.

Visibly Jewish

According to an article in this weeks Voice, when the first pizza shop opened, Rebbetzin Rischel took out a $15000 personal loan and offered it to the owner to close up shop. I guess she saw what was coming....

One has got to wonder if the whole ruach by simchas was different in those days. Sometimes one wonders if the kidushim where the kids (and sometimes the adults) are attacking the food in hit and run fashion is just an outgrowth of the whole restaurant/parlor meeting buffet etc. scene in general that spills over to simchas.

I thought it was actually somewhat funny last time I made a shalom zachar there was a whole group of kids who had made early Shabbos knocking on the door (sans parents) at the beginning of the night meal to see if they could start eating the shalom zachar nosh. I guess that they made early Shabbos and assumed that we did, but I didn't even have a clue who most of them were.....

It is very telling when the front page as of the BP each week is about collection phone calls. The rest of it is how they got into debt.

The way I see it is that the median lifestyle spending is based on a 180k income. (Median - many spend way more).

There's no way that 180k is the median salary. CMIIW?

I'm not so sure of that. The people I know who make around 180k are sending all kids to sleep away camp/ bungalow colony, family trips to Israel etc. I don't think this is the norm, at least not yet...

Much higher. Family trip to ey is easy 10-25k...

Many people spend 50k + a year on just clothing!

With all the high standards of life in Lakewood, go to Gourmet Glatt right now and see what is going on. People are killing each other for a little free popcorn.
I just decided that 'Free' is very expensive.
(At least in Lakewood)

We've been through this before, but there is no way a 180k income can support all that.

This is getting bad.
Prospect vines area for eg. litteraly half the new homeowners are looking to rent out their purchase. There is no market.

Forclosures are bound to follow. Then the big collapse of the construction industry etc

I know someone who got a 3 bedroom 1.5 bath for 750. That's insane, a year ago it was 1150.
