Is Seafood No Longer Safe?
« on: February 02, 2017, 05:55:21 AM »
Following on from a comment on some other forum, I am keen to know that, so many waterways are polluted, is seafood now a gamble?

Even natural pollutants are increasing from algal blooms caused by warming waters and excess nutrients.Farmed salmon in Europe has been found to be so full of man-made pollutants they warned people not to eat it too often. Fatty salmon flesh collects PCBs and the like.Much canned tuna comes from the western Pacific, which is Fukushima country. It might be nothing to worry about, but it puts me off… Would be interesting to hear of localized seafood incidents.

The only seafood I eat comes out of my 3D printer using homemade bioink. If you want safe jump on the bandwagon.
I'm an optimist; but only because life isn't going to give me any other good choices.

From the poll:
"Government is responsible to contaminate oceans"

What?

This is only a poll. Somebody has even voted for the last option.Anyways, you should vote for the best option you think is the cause. As far as the government is considered, we, ourselves, are responsible for contaminating oceans and dumping the chemicals in it.

So, you are trying to say that nothing is safe and no one to trust?
Then how to distinguish what is fresh, what to eat and what not?

Raise goldfish in a kiddie pool in the living room. You can control their environment and know what you're eating.

The only reason this discussion is a bit funny is because I'm pretty sure the hundreds of hundreds of food items on market shelves that many in the general population eats an abundance of is really what's making people unhealthy. So while yes, our fish may not be as healthy as we think I'd imagine if someone wants to eat safe foods they'd start their focus on all the other 'toxic' foods we eat.

Living is the most detrimental thing to one's health. Visit any cemetery, no one ever needs a Dr when they're six feet under. :P
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Can anyone explain the poll?  ???

Is sea food no longer safe?
1. Yes Is this yes, as in "yes it's safe", or "yes it's no longer safe"?
2. No "no it's not safe" or "no, it's ok"?
3. Both 1 & 2 How exactly is this possible?  :o
4.
5. Government is responsible to contaminate oceans So  if I choose this I'm basically saying, "Yea, the government isn't doing their job. Why are they so busy with immigrants and refugees, while they should be busy contaminating their oceans?!?!?!"  ::)

Lol! It's the three of us having a conversation on a couple different threads, running back and forth... Can we just create one thread and keep it all in one place...?  ;D
