I got my kit in the mail as well. just that they did not correct my address zip code ( i did same trick as AsherO). it says Brooklyn NY 12225 - should i correct it on the paper before i send it in, or call in, or just leave it?

Did Chex approve you? If yes, I say send it in, you can always correct it later.

Update:

I apllied for an account for myself and my wife 1.5 weeks ago, and we both got instant approval emails.

My account is currently up and running, but I never got anything in the mail for my wife (although they charged my cc $100). I called today and they said that the account was closed by them! They're not sure why but the rep said it may have something to do with the incorrect zip code ..and they're watching out very carefully these days for fraud...

Im not surprised that mine went through, because I've had a previous account with Key at that address. My wife didn't and got denied. They will call me back with more info on why it was denied, if there is any way to reinstate it, and if I can try opening again online.

I just heard back from them that the fraud department closed it because they needed proof of social and they want to see ID (It sounded like they want proof that I live in NY). They will send me a letter in the mail requesting those and if I send it in they will reopen it. Depending how makpid they are on the type of ID, I can try changing the address on my TD bank account to NY, printing a statement, and changing it back to NJ.

In the welcome packet there is a paper that you need to sign and send back. It's the signature card so that they will then have your signature on file. If your just using the account for 6 months to get the promo you can just have a friend sign and send it back. Just don't blame me if you have a problem down the line where they don't accept your signature on things cause it doesn't match!

I just got this call from Key (their branch in Manhattan) as well, so it seems this is routine, and is actually kinda nice. It made me all warm and fuzzy on the inside

So I got my Welcome Kit from Key and under the section where it says that I can qualify for an ipod touch it says that "Direct Deposit transactions are limited to: Payroll, Social Security, Pension and Government Benefits."

Has it always said that and ACH has worked or is this something new?

Open up a usaa.com bank account.   Link your regular bank account to it and you can then transfer $$ from regular bank account to USAA, setup direct deposit from usaa to key, transfer the $500 back to key in time for the 2nd direct deposit....
