I think I pulled similar tricks than you. Let's just say I hope they don't stop my application, and I actually get the enrollment kit (or whatever they call it) in the mail.

well I already have an account number, so I assume that I am safe, good luck to you...

Did you have to call and ask? I've never had an account with them, that probably makes my application processing take longer.

I came up with a workaround. I actually live in NJ and was planning on using a relative in Brookln's address. The problem is that many Brookly zip codes aren't working.

I found a random zip code that works (10701 Yonkers, NY) and wrote that along with the brooklyn address. I then put my NJ address down as the mailing address. My account was approved, so now all the mail will come to me in NJ, and as soon as I get the account # in the mail I will call up and update the zip code to the correct one (although it doesn't really matter being that all the mail comes to NJ anyway!)

Was thinking of that, just wondering if they will catch on, and not give the promo for us Jersey people

They dont know that I 'live' in NJ, only that my office (ie mailing address) isthere. The brooklyn address that I provided will remain - I will just change the zip code from the incorrect one that I provided to the correct zip for my realives address.

I did the same. I just didn't want to report that it works until my account was approved, I'm waiting to hear from them. I'm afraid to call, lest they see my address and decline the application.

Brooklyn Zipcodes are 112XX, so I switched to 122XX, which is upstate NY. That worked.

Both mine and my wifes applications were approved.

Do you have previous accounts with them?

I did, my wife didn't. Both were instantly approved.

There is nothing wrong with having a mailing address in a 'non-valid' state.

I'm still not getting how people are opening accounts who don't live in states where there is a Key Bank branch.  I live in California and don't know of any NY address I could use.

It's easier in NY, where some NY zipcodes work, so the zip could be one digit off and the state would be accurate.  If you can find a non-CA zipcode that is one digit off (e.g. using a 3 as the first digit) that might work. The state will be incorrect, but you can always try to get that changed later, and your mailing address can be in CA.

Can I make a deposit with a transfer from another account at a different bank to qualify for a direct deposit?

Apparently that should work as long as you push the transfer from the other bank.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

In the FAQ’s is says:

What qualifies as an automated payment?

Automatic withdrawals from your checking account by a company, such as paying a utility bill automatically from the utility’s website bill pay. It must be linked by routing number and checking account number, not the debit card number. Automated loan payments made via ACH (whether a “KeyBank” loan or loan with another financial services firm) will also qualify.

I didnt see anywhere that it listed auto withdrawal as a requirement???
