Did you get any updates, my account was just debited this morning, other than that i have not heard anything.

i signed up with a Brooklyn address, Yonkers zip and jersey mailing address! they debited my account....
today i received a letter that they couldn't confirm my identity and address etc. and to send in a 1099, licsence, utility bill.....
guess we'll wait and see

ya thats normal if your address isnt on ur chexsystems / credit report

If they're pulling ChexSystems it's not a problem. I've never heard of anyone getting denied for having too many inquiries there. There might also be some credit bureau product that verifies your identity/address but isn't a credit pull.

should be fine.... doesnt say anywhere that you have to keep the money in the account... also in all my past Key promos I withdrew the money right away and had no problems...

Dont forget thought you do need to do a monthly DD of $500 and ten withdrawal/payments in all subsequent months that you have the acct just to keep it free...

Regarding the mention of the promo, there was one screen that you should have seen the offer code prefilled if you used the correct link...

Thanks. The promo code was entered on the form. So I guess that as soon as (if) I get the Ipod, I'll close the account, in order not have to pay a monthly fee...

Everyone keeps mentioning direct deposit of $500 a month for 3 months...

From what I understand you can do them all in the first month if you so choose.

In the welcome packet that I got it says something interesting about closing the account early.

Accounts closed as of 9/23/11 are not eligible.

Say you opened the account May 6. If you do transactions in May, June and July, say in mid July you 'qualify. You should recieve it by mid October - but you must leave the account open past 9/23 or you will become ineligible!!

I stand corrected.... you are correct, I just checked it up again on Key's website and it does say or. I am almost positive that it used to say and, but I could be mistaken, I wonder if Key changed it....

I got my Key bank welcome kit, just wanted to share a few comments:

1. I was probably delayed because I played a few zip code shtick.
2. They (automatically) corrected my address, it has the zip-4 everywhere.
3. One of my forms says "Verification: Chex - PASS", which means they run you through ChexSystems. It also says "Approved by: BOSCO", which I'm going to assume means my app was manually reviewed.
4. They sent me a business reply envelope, so I'm going to save $0.44 in postage when I main them the signed documents

Looks like I'm on my way to getting my 'free' (after taxes) iPod Touch.

Yup. I haven't logged in (to Key's online banking) yet so I don't yet know if it's there. But it's only $50 so I'm not dying here.

Update:

I apllied for an account for myself and my wife 1.5 weeks ago, and we both got instant approval emails.

My account is currently up and running, but I never got anything in the mail for my wife (although they charged my cc $100). I called today and they said that the account was closed by them! They're not sure why but the rep said it may have something to do with the incorrect zip code ..and they're watching out very carefully these days for fraud...

Im not surprised that mine went through, because I've had a previous account with Key at that address. My wife didn't and got denied. They will call me back with more info on why it was denied, if there is any way to reinstate it, and if I can try opening again online.

I got my kit in the mail as well. just that they did not correct my address zip code ( i did same trick as AsherO). it says Brooklyn NY 12225 - should i correct it on the paper before i send it in, or call in, or just leave it?
