accidentally ticketed an AA award flight which is not "legal"
« on: February 06, 2017, 09:39:03 AM »
I know there's a million threads relevant threads, but I think this is time sensitive so hopefully someone can help...

We just booked an award flight on RJ from BKK-TLV , which essentially was supposed to land at 6AM, but because of the time change happening in Jordan on March 31, is now going to land at 7AM. The booked connecting flight out of AMM leaves at 735AM, which is not technically enough time to issue a ticket. American's website didn't have the times right on the website (still don't - took a screenshot). but the actually e-mail with the ticket info says arrival 7AM and departure 735AM. I already checked AA/RJ for later flights, but nothing for award booking... and if you go to RJ to purchase a flight , the iternary we booked is not even suggested, instead the flight out of amman at 10PM is suggested...

What should I do? I started looking at other OW options, but nothing else seems to result in not waiting a million hours at the airport... should I alert AA to this error? If i do maybe I will loose out on the possibility for AA to guarantee us to get home (which right now under regular circumstances .. there are not other flights... the 10PM AMM-TLV flight doesnt have award space)..

TIA for any advice/tips!!!!!

BUMP. anyone?

Can AA cancel our ticket and re-issue us the miles? Is that legally allowed? I don't know if I should start booking other parts of my vacation yet...

If it's ticketed, presumably you'd be protected. The concern is timing. You might be able to force them to interline you on something leaving sooner, but no guarantees.

What date are you traveling?

Here's what it looks like (on GF) when trying to book a one way flight from BKK-TLV on RJ over that clock change mentioned.

What date are you traveling?
Our ticket is issued leaving April 22nd at 12:30 am, and arriving to AMM 635AM.

AA just called, essentially nicely requesting us to pick another flight.. b.C. Connection is 25 minutes long , and according to to rep "well be denied boarding in BKK, by RJ"...  all the other options include 12hr layovers in Amman.... I even wanted to stay the night in the airport and fly 23rd in the morning flight, but it would be 24hrs and 10 min so qualifies as a stop over....

Those flights don't exist after time change .. after March 31...

ETA: they depart at slightly different times at end of April...

Anyone know if AA can legally cancel our ticketed flights?

They can certainly "schedule change" you onto the later connection.

that i'm OK and fine with.. question is whether they can cancel the whole thing all together... leaving us kinda without an alternative.. a later alternative is less desirable but if thats their only legal option then i'm OK with it...

I said something to that effect and she goes "it's out of our hands, RJ releases the award tickets to us"

Well..  I escalated and I HUCA'd. Sort of gave up and took a similar flight next day with a 45 min connection. Keeping my fingers crossed something else opens up for a day or two earlier, and then will leave as planned.. fingers crossed for the new Cathay Pacific route to open up spaces for my dates,!!!
