As a moderator on other forums, I must admit that it seriously irks me to see people multi-post on message boards.
In other words, take one complete post, and seperate it so that you put each
line
in
a
new
post.

Its a technique known to get higher post countings for reputability.
But, like thread bumping, its a major annoyance to regular forum goers, cluttering up the threads and making searches less helpful. In the end, it reduces the overall effectiveness of the forum and I've seen BB's die because nothing was done to stop this, and the regulars stopped coming.

I would like to vote that the mods on this forum put an end to such behavior by policing the threads!
Anyone who posts one-after-the-other in threads that could have been combined or modified, should be on probation.
Or, make a rule that you can't post after yourself in the same thread for a certain amount of time if you guys are feeling up to modifying some of the PHP code that runs this server.

Just some ideas. No offense, Yitzter, but that's really annoying!!

Yitzter, how about "Consider this a warning" not to do it anymore. It indeed clutters up the forums. I did it a little yesterday only because I was posting from my phone and I couldn't modify a post.

Please, you and others, forget about the post counts. Soon enough we'll all have too many to count. If you wrote a post and forgot to mention something, modify the post and add it.

In the spirit of me being polite about this, please be polite back and stop doing it.

Thank you.
-Eli

Why would anyone care about post counts anyhow? Are there perks to more posts? One number isn't going to give or take a reputation either way. If someone gives usefull answers and posts he'll get a good reputation, if not, not.

You guys are 100% right, I'll stop doing it. But can I at least do it in the shmooze section? I can't stand modifying posts, it's really annoying to go back every time. And in the shmooze section it doesn't count for posts so it's not like I am doing it for the post count.

Mordy, I apologize for "annoying" you.

Eli, Thanks for the warning. Would you really have the heart to ban me? lol

In all honesty, I will put an effort to not multi-post.

Mordy, you could have just pm'd me and asked me to stop, you didn't have to make a whole thread about me. What an honor!

LOL, I just singled you out as the one I noticed doing it all over the place.
I didn't really start the thread just for YOU. Others were doing it too.

Thread Bumping is the process of posting in a thread, with the sole goal of getting it back to the top of the thread list and increase ones post count.

Thread Bumping is the process of posting in a thread, with the sole goal of getting it back to the top of the thread list and increase ones post count.
Thread bumping is also used when you need the topic to be at the top. Sometimes topics get swallowed in a forum and never to be seen again. So people sometimes bump good topics.
