Because the ת in בִּגְתָן doesn't get a דגש.

However the only reason ת in וָתֶרֶשׁ has no דגש is because it is preceded by a ו, just like the ב in וּבִנְיָמִֽן loses its דגש because of the ו which comes in front it the name Binyomin. בגדכפת in the beginning syllable or a word (as long as the preceding word doesn't end with an open syllable which connects to the word starting with בגדכפת) will get a דגש.
I still don't understand: why not Bigton? The second half of the word begins a new havorah.

Once it was brought up... True story. I was editing a sefer on Purim and he started discussing "Bigsan and Teresh." I corrected the first two times, then did a double take and said to myself, Actually, he's right! Changed it back.

Haven't looked into it much. But it is a name in a foreign language after all (interestingly it seems like תרגום השבעים has the G and B sounds transposed).
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Yikes. Does vaping affect the voice like smoking does?

Does having a collapsed lung affect the voice?

Not a particularly good example as he clearly meant to reference הוי זהירים ברשות in that the government will not be of help.
It's a perfect example. Why leave hints instead of specifying what he's referring to?
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Why does The Lakewood Scoop feel the need to somehow disable copying text from their website?
(Yes, I know you can do it by disabling JavaScript on the site or something like that.)
Anyway:

"Sic" is short for a Latin phrase, and it indicates that you are quoting something in the exact form in which it originally appeared.
It's used to tell the reader that an error in grammar, spelling, or fact was present in the source and did not originate with
you, not to indicate that the quoted person was expressing their own opinion which you are not endorsing by quoting it.

Do you want to play a board game, digitally or in Lakewood NJ? PM me. (Can be asynchronous, i.e. take turns whenever)

maybe so it's harder for other sites to copy/paste stories? I have no clue though.

Uh huh, which is why I've been experiencing it wherever I've been, in either country. It's illegal in both, btw. There are simply places where no one has the energy to enforce, and places where they do.
Fond memories of being asked by Rav Osher Kalmanowitz to go tell the fellow smoking under an awning near his shiur room window to go elsewhere. (His asthma is atrociously bad - he very nearly did not survive COVID. B"H he recovered.)
Wait, you learned in Mir Brooklyn?

We are using the hebrew pronunciation anyhow. How was Achashverosh pronounced in Persian? Was it closer to the English Cyres?

I might have posted this before.

People who walk/stroll/stand in groups blocking or slowing pedestrian traffic on sidewalks. It should be illegal to walk in groups other than single file!
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Xerxes
Etymology
Xérxēs (Ξέρξης) is the Greek and Latin (Xerxes, Xerses) transliteration of the Old Iranian Xšaya-ṛšā ("ruling over heroes"), which can be seen by the first part xšaya, meaning "ruling", and the second ṛšā, meaning "hero, man".[5] The name of Xerxes was known in Akkadian as Ḫi-ši-ʾ-ar-šá and in Aramaic as ḥšyʾrš.[6] Xerxes would become a popular name among the rulers of the Achaemenid Empire.[5]
