which blackberry?
« on: May 13, 2011, 12:15:05 AM »
My wifes bb tour for sprint broke, I want to get her a new one, wanna spend max 200$. I am on a all data 3000 plan, so I can support any bb.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to which one to get.
Also if you know of any good stam sprint phones, not bb, I can get for 200$ that's also good.
Thanks

Why 200 you can buy a new one for around 170 or a used one for around 100 on Ebay

No suggestions on actual phone, but maybe keep in mind which phones incur the Sprint $10 monthly robbery.

No, just my initial ebay search showed me that bb are the only phones you can get new for 200$ or less.
If you know of a good/cool phone to get on ebay for 200$ or less I am all ears

If you are interested in waiting for a new and better phone for your money i would recommend waiting for the new bold/touch BB thats coming out this summer. With a new 2 yr contract it will probably be 200
If you dont care to have the newest one I would also recommend waiting. With the new BB coming out all prices in store will drop (especially on ebay since there will be an influx of people getting rid of there old Blackberries)
Hope that helps!

Junk. Buttons are card and noisy. Only + is that it's light

The 9700 seems to me like a stable workhorse, with all round good performance as well as on the light side and so on.

I did upgrade the OS which meant: much slower, and additional menus to do things, eg just to see the 'other' menu icons, I had to push two buttons vs one now, etc.

Practically any Android/Blackberry/Windows Mobile phone released in the past year.

9700 isn't available on Sprint.

Were you able to downgrade your OS?

Yes, I was able to, took a little searching in the desktop manager, but it worked. I was impressed. I had the shabos clock that turned off my pc while downgrading, so my bb wouldn't start, but after plugging it it, it worked like a charm. Tell me one other phone that can do that.
Even nokia gave me this 'contact vendor' before starting off because of some little file I guess he didn't like.
