That, and dealer costs vary by state.
Generally Baltimore seems to be the cheapest place to buy a car.
also i once heard that often dealers get a bonus if they sell a lot of cars so sometimes even if they sell the car for around what they paid they still make money.

Yup, and it also helped that I finalized on the last day of the month when there are quotas to fill, etc.

Mazel Tov! Great deal, just curious if you can flip it for 25k, purchase the one in Baltimore and keep 2.5k.  :)

geico told me that since i am already in their "highest loyal customer bracket"??? there would be no further discount for the nmfa.
i was told the same thing when i called today to ask for a discount as a member of NFMA, but the csr said he will notate in my account that i am a member and if i will ever be eligible then it will be applied to my account. i checked my account online a couple of minutes later, and i see that i did get a discount of $42.20 for 6 months!  btw he didnt ask me for proof of membership...

Wound up with an Altima 2.5SL in Metallic Slate (Dark Gray/Graphite color) with black heated leather seats, moonroof, dual-zone+rear AC/Heat, 8 way power seat, intelligent key/push button ignition, etc, etc.

The Altima 4 cylinder has CVT transmission that made it feel more powerful than other 4 cylinder cars.  The V6 would've been a good few thousand more and gas mileage was worse.  Additionally the ride comfort in the 4 cylinder is indeed much better than the V6, as consumer reports also says.  Overall very happy so far, much more fun/sporty than a Camry or Accord IMHO.

Sticker was $27,500+, paid $21,000+.
Had a dealer in Baltimore that was willing to go down to $20,400+ but he didn't have my preferred color and between the airfare there, gas back, and miles on the car it wouldn't have been worth it IMO.

My first car purchase :D :D

Mazal Tov!!

Are you thinking of widening your concierge service to help people buy new cars at discount?

If you get into an accident they can ask for proof of membership.  If you're not a member that will bite you in the #$%.

i personally do have membership, but i doubt i will need to renew it, if geico took my word for it now, i can safely assume they will not ask me in a year from now if i renewed. and then i am not liable if they keep on giving me the discount without verifying

Or they can say you should've told them you no longer qualified.

Can you record the (audio of the) negotiation for us, or that's asking too much? I just can't seem to comprehend the willingness on their part to "loose money off you!"

Also, Dave Ramsey claims that cash - real cash - is the best negotiating tool. Ever tried that?

you'll have to get a anti shakes or something to carry it.

unless you want to bring coins form the mint - for which you might need a truck...
(yeah its an old thread) dan, i am shocked you let him get away with that one

I financed my car through Pen Fed.  Didn't pay any membership>  I told them I had family in the military i.e. Grandfather and they made me a member.

Dan was referring to "new car sales" /car dealers.   Sherr sells used cars which is an entirely different market.
