Another data point.  Signed up for the MC in 6/12.  Got the 7% on the signup bonus.

Following up on the recent questions about switching to Visa from MC...what are good reasons to give for switching from a MC to a Visa (last time they accepted, I have too many Visas, I need an MC)

Thanks
need to sep cc spending and a lot of places dont take mc

Just a suggestion, there are some other awesome chase cards, why only sticking with the SP.

I like the flexibility of the UR points. I do not due much domestic travel, so United or SW are not really worth it for me. I already have a Bold and freedom.

Thanks

Why is UA only good for domestic?

Forgive my ignorance, but, I always thought UA international flights are not that great compared most Asian (Korean air) carriers. I am planning on getting most of Asia off my bucket list in the next few years.

Forgive me for speaking broadly, but I do not know if UA would be the best card with my travel goals. Also, I cannot take more than one international trip a year, which sucks. At my travel rate, I thought it would be best to max out my UR points.

Thanks Dan.

Can you comment on how often you can move UR balances around? Am I OK to move my current balance from my MC SP to my Freedom, and then to my (hopefully) new VISA SP?

Thanks again.

You coudlve applied for the Visa right when you made the switch.

Dont cancel.  Apply for Visa...you will be denied.  Call them up and offer to transfer the CL from the MC to the Visa.

But remember..transfer your UR points to another Chase card (ie. Freedom, Ink) before you apply.

If you have a balance on the MC, pay it before or else they will not close the MC to open the Visa because it will be considered as if you have two SP.

I have an SP MC (original app, not a transfer).  Am i better off transferring it to a Visa and then applying for MC and calling recon if/when denied to transfer over, or just apply for Visa and having them close MC to open Visa?

I dont think it makes a difference regarding which is better to get approved- I've done both.  The only difference if you keep it an MC you 1)save a step and 2) support the site by applying for the Visa through Dans link as he does not have a MC link.
