Tried sending an SM, and was told that I couldn't product change since the card was open less than 12 months. True statement? Any chance I can HUCA?
False.

HUCA.

They're really crazy, a rep just told me were discontinuing our relationship with MC on all our cards and over the next year everyone with a MC card will get a notice. Therefore they for sure can't change my Visa to MC. This change took place on the 15th of Oct.

+1 I got the same shpiel today, trying to convert my Sapphire WMC to a Freedom. They wouldn't make it a MasterCard because they aren't issuing new (non-partner) MasterCards. They wouldn't make it a Visa because I have one already.

Got the same 'no MC' schpiel as well. My one year anniversary is coming up in February, and given I can't convert the card to a MC, does anyone have any suggestions on how to churn the card and avoid the annual fee?

Supposedly can't be done anymore due to changes.

I got the SP Visa in January, called a few months ago to have it converted to the MC.  Last night I applied for the SP Visa again in a 3bm with SW & UE. Got recon to approve the SW & UE, but they said I cant get the SP Visa because I currently have the SP MC (claimed it was the same product and I wasnt able to have 2 of them) and that the application was never put through (no credit pull).

I was also told that I couldnt have more than 2 apps approved in a 30-day period (which i knew was false, because I did it a few months ago).

The 3rd person I spoke to said that I could get the SP Visa but I wouldnt be eligible for the bonus. Another said that I could get the SP Visa if I switched the SP MC to a plain Sapphire (non-preferred), but wasnt clear on whether or not I'd be eligible for the bonus.

Anyone have any luck getting the bonus on a new SP Visa after having converted an old one to SP MC?

If I am eligible for the bonus, is it worth the extra CP and loss of the 7% dividend for the new SP Visa?

They can close down the old one and approve the new one. If you get the new one, you will get the points.

Since they said that the app didnt go through (duplicate card) there was no CP does it pay (extra pull) to close the old one, or wait till my next 3bm?

If that was true, when the other reps offered to convert it but no points, was that after a new credit pull?

The person that said I could get it if I converted my SP MC to a non-perferred didnt say anything about a credit pull, so I'm not sure, but the other 2 both said the application wasnt processed, which leads me to believe that there was no pull. I could try to convince them to use the data on the pulls from the other apps, but i have no idea if they'd do that or no. (I have a feeling the answer would be no)

So if I convert my SP to a regular version, I can apply again later and get the SP?

Yes.

Is there a certain period of time recommended to wait? I'm in the same boat - looking to downgrade my SP Visa to a regular S Visa, and reapply for the SP Visa.

No real time period. Though if you do it very soon, you will probably need a good reason for wanting the same product again.
