If I have the Sapphire is it possible to transfer UR to my spouse's United account? Or does it have to be in my name?

You can transfer to anyone's account it's just a bit risky if it happens to often.

Requested to downgrade to freedom.

Dear xxx,

Thank you for contacting Chase about the product change.

The product you have requested requires a minimum credit
line of $5,000.00
. The credit line for your account is
currently below this limit and a request for a credit line
increase must be submitted and approved before completing
the product change. With regards to the annual fee, I'd
like to inform the annual fee is credited within 60 days
of the charge date. I see the annual fee was assessed on
June 1, 2015. As it has become more than 60 days the
annual fee will not be refunded and I apologize for any
inconvenience in this regard.

Please reply to this email with the following information:
- Gross Annual Income (Alimony, child support, and
separate maintenance income need not be revealed if you do
not wish it to be a basis for repayment of this loan.
Your gross annual income can include money received from
several sources. Some examples of income are: salaries,
investments, social security benefits, or retirement. If
you are 21 or older and regularly use income from others
to pay your bills, you can include that too.)

- Total credit line you are requesting (Current credit
line plus amount of requested increase). Total credit
line must be greater than or equal to the minimum credit
line of $5,000.00 for the product change.
- We will need your Housing Status if you own or rent and
your monthly housing payment.

By submitting a request for a credit line increase, you
authorize Chase to obtain a copy of your credit report,
and review your credit bureau history and any other
information in order to determine if the request can be
approved. After your request has been processed, we will
notify you of our decision via email.

EQUAL CREDIT OPPORTUNITY ACT NOTICE
The Federal Equal Credit Opportunity Act prohibits
creditors from discriminating against credit applicants on
the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex,
marital status, age (provided that the applicant has the
capacity to enter into a binding contract); because all or
part of the applicant's income derives from any public
assistance program; or because the applicant has in good
faith exercised any right under the Consumer Credit
Protection Act. The Federal agency that administers
compliance with this law concerning this creditor is the
Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection, 1700 G Street NW,
Washington, DC 20006.

Looking forward to your response. If you have any further
questions, please reply using the Secure Message Center.

Thank you,

Something doesn't make sense.
1) There's no $5k CL minimum for Freedom
2) You have 180 days to get the AF back

aka two things don't make sense.

Is there HUCA with SMs? I'd rather not call as the card is not in my name.

(BTW, my Freedom card started out with a $500 CL; a relative's had a $300 CL)

That doesn't sound like a request for a freedom. That's pretty scary.

Call with the person on the line and be given permission to talk on their behalf. I find this type of request much easier on the phone.

Dear xxx,

Thank you for contacting Chase about product change to a
no annual fee card.

I apologize for the inconvenience caused due to the
previous email response. I can see that you currently
have a credit access line. Let me share that if you would
like to switch to another card with a credit access line,
you will need a minimum credit line of $5,000.00.
However, you also have the option to switch to a card with
a credit limit. The following changes will apply if the
product is switched:

-Customers are eligible to earn 5% cash back (5 points per
$1 spent), on up to $1,500 in purchases each quarter in
categories that change like gas stations, restaurants, and
more. Quarterly activation required. Customers also earn
a full 1% cash back or 1 points per $1 spent on all other
purchases with no caps, tiers or expiration.  Chase
checking account customers can also earn an extra 10%
annual bonus on points earned on new purchases. Both the
Chase Freedom and Chase checking account must be open as
of 12/31. Your Chase Freedom card gives you access to
Ultimate Rewards, Chase's world-class rewards program that
makes it easy to get your cash back and more. Product
includes a 3% foreign transaction fee for any transactions
made in a foreign currency or made outside of the United
States of America, including some internet transactions.
-The Annual Percentage Rate (APR) and account number will
remain the same.
-All enrolled features will be retained.
-Please keep in mind, when you change to a Visa Non-
Signature card from a Visa Signature card, the benefits
will be different.
-Any promotional balances attached to the old account will
transfer to your new account at the original promotional
terms.
-Your current account has a Credit Access Line. By
changing this account, you will now have a Credit Limit.
We will send you a letter explaining any penalty pricing
that may apply if you go over your credit limit, when it
will apply and an explanation of your right to reject the
change in account terms.
-If you have been previously excluded from receiving
solicitations, you will continue to be excluded going
forward.
-If any of your account terms have changed, you will
receive a letter in the mail explaining the changes and
right to reject them.
-xxx, reward points will be transferred to the
new program at a rate of one point to on point.
-With your old program, rewards expired 24 months from
posting. With the new program, rewards do not expire.
Your rewards balance, and cycle to date earnings will
transfer and be available after 3 p.m. EST the next
business day. Please note that the ability to redeem may
be delayed due to holidays.
-This reward product also offers a bonus earn shopping
site. There will be no changes to any rewards earned by
your previous shopping site purchases.
-Please note that the expiration date and the signature
panel code will change. If you have automatic charges
billed to your account, you will want to inform those
merchants of the new expiration date once you receive your
new card(s).

If you wish to continue with this request, please reply
using the Secure Message Center. We are not able to
process your request unless we receive your confirmation.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center.

Thank you,

What's a Credit Access Line?
IINM it means you could charge over the limit & not get overlimit fees.

What's a Credit Access Line?
The difference of a credit access line and a credit line is that one you can go over the credit limit and on one you (officially) can't.
Though I don't remember which one is which.

Cool.

At any rate, should I take their offer and then call to get the AF refunded? Or will it go smoother if I call for both?

I had a sapphire card and my son was a joint user. My son wanted his own card. Chase said I should close and open again. I needed to do a HUCA 3 times to get it approved. Will i get the bonus points again now that they are issuing a new card?

How does this help your son get a card?
Because if he's a joint account holder he can't get the same card for himself, unless the card is closed first.
