Ydad,

so whenever the annual fees is up, you move the credit line to Freedom card, or do you just keep paying the annual fees?

I mean, right now I have Ink Plus, United Explorer and Sapphire. Do I call to have them "cancelled" and all credit line rolled into Freedom? Then a couple months later, apply new Ink Plus, Sapphire and get bonus?

Thanks
Sean
You can downgrade both the SP and UMPE to no annual fee versions, which is what I did. I don't think there's an option to do that for ink plus though. Good luck.

Wow, so this is news to me. So you downgrade all personnel card to the no-annual fee cards. Then in couple months when there is new promo for the SP and UMPE with high bonus miles, you would just apply for the SP and UMPE?

And you get approved? What did you say on the phone to the agents? :)  ;D

Thanks
Sean

Yup.

Just give the a reason why you need the card again (if they even ask).

Thanks again Marco. I am surprised that the applicant would get the same bonus UR points or United Miles again. Me and wife had a couple experiences before, that Yes, our application would approved, but NO Bonus miles or points.

So we apply and took a credit hit for nothing.

But I think there is a difference here. Both you and Ydad did not close the cards directly, but instead transfer the Credit Line over to your Freedom card or whatever free types, thus sort of maintaining the credit history. And then reapply to the same Sapphire and UMPE again.

Is that the trick?  ;)

UR earning cards are different than the other programs. You need to do a little more work to get the bonus within the 24 months.

-1. There is a free version of the Ink card. When i was trying to get retention i was offered this Chase Business card with no AF. Ink Cash 521 Visa Signature business card has no fee. I ended up paying the AF and then they waived it but there is a free card to downgrade to.

FYI I've never yet cancelled a card with Chase. I dunno if that helped me get approved, but hey, you never know.

I had a feeling that would be the case, but it's not applicable to most people here, because once you're in the game long enough, auto approvals are hard to come by, and chase biz are supposedly very hard either way.

Asking for someone else - will you get the 40k bonus if you spend the required amount but only pay the minimum on the bill and leave a balance?
