My father has a saphire from 2 yrs ago, he only got $100 for opening it. Would the 50k or this work?
A sapphire preferred or just regular sapphire?
The reports Ive read are that people have not had luck changing the sapphire over to preferred and getting the bonus but its worth a shot.  The other option is just to apply for preferred and if need be to then offer to close the regular sapphire.

If it is sapphire preferred then you can try closing it and reapplying but I doubt they would give you the bonus without reapplying.

If you have regular sapphire you will need to close it and then apply for sapphire preferred using the 50k sign up link.

This is what I had to do to get the bonus.

so funny story when i transferred all my points out into CO and hyatt one of the CO transfers didnt go though for 60k. on the rewards activity page under status instead of saying completed like all the other transfers did it said open. So i have been messaging chase for the past week asking them why it hasnt gone through and to push it through and today instead of pushing it through once they pushed it through twice so instead of 60k CO i got 120k CO  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D so i have gotten over 300k points/miles from this card and am still expecting the 50k for spending 3k

Looks like some quirky thing with how your account is set up, good stuff. Have spend deposits (the regular monthly non-bonus ones) post doubly to your account as well? If yes, it means you have a Sapphire preferred that gives you two points per dollar...

i actually dont think thats what happened here because one of the messages i got back from them today said
Quote
Dear xxx,

Thank you for the opportunity to assist you today.

I called Continental and added 60,000 miles to your
OnePass number UK553827 today. They are available for
your use.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center.

Thank you,
but even after that the status still said open. but now it says complete so i think the rep called and just deposited 60k and then the comp maybe finally  processed the order and deposited the 60k also

I had a similar incident last year.  I transferred the 28,000 UR points from my Sapphire card to my CO account, but I clicked it twice since the browser was lagging.  They deposited 56,000 miles in my CO.  Unfortunately,  4 months later they took back the second deposit of 28k (took them right out of my CO account mind you).  That was the first mileage card I ever opened and I'm hoarding miles to use on a trip to Israel next year, so I didn't have enough miles yet to make use of them right away before the mistake was found out.

Looks like this deal is done
here is my email exchange with chase:
I am writing in reference to your inquiry about the
joining bonus for 100,000 points on your Chase Sapphire
card ending in 5862.

Thank you for your interest in the Chase Sapphire bonus
points offer.

The 100,000 bonus points offer was made through a small
direct mail test and is non-transferable. The Offer Code
and Invitation Number included in the mailing can only be
applied to the recipient?s account. If you are not listed
as the addressee of the mailing, we will be unable to
apply the offer to your account. I understand you may be
disappointed and I am sincerely sorry for any confusion.
Please know that we will consider reviewing the terms of
other offers you receive in the future.

I am glad I was able to clarify this for you. If you have
any further questions, please reply using the Secure
Message Center.

Thank you,

Pratiksha Jagger
E-mail Customer Service Advisor

1-800-493-3319

and then I replied

I must admit that I am pretty disappointed that you will not match that offer. While I appreciate your offer, I was expecting to be matched for 100k points as many of my friends who recommended the card to me have.

and they replied:

My name is Tamseel and I appreciate the opportunity in
assisting you today.

In response to your e-mail, I understand that few
ineligible customers have received additional 50,000 bonus
points, however this was done in error and these were
subsequently taken away from their added points.

We will be unable to honor the request to apply the
additional 50,000 points offer to your account. As much
as I want to help you, nothing would have pleased me more
than to provide the resolution you are seeking and any
dissatisfaction caused to you is regretted.

Thank you,

Tamseel Kardame
