If you think nobody cares about you... just forget to pay your credit card bill

I believe I opened my CSP in January of last year and I downgraded to a freedom a few months ago.  After reading some posts it sounded like you can apply as soon as you downgrade.  While I was applying for the new CSP I noticed in the part where it talks about certifications that "I understand that if I have had this card in the past 2 years I will not be eligible for the bonus" (or something like that).

After that I noticed it said this below:

40,000 Bonus Points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening
This new cardmember bonus offer is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of this consumer credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of this consumer credit card who received a new cardmember bonus for this consumer credit card within the last 24 months.

So it sounds like I wouldn't be eligible for the bonus of the $40k or $5k since I've received the bonus within the last 24 months... Is that accurate?  I'm happy to use the card with no annual fee but obviously would prefer to be eligible for the bonus points!

Especially after a few months of not having it, if you get approved, you will get bonus.

Anyone know roughly how long it takes from when you get the card until when you're eligible to refer a friend for the 5,000 bonus?

Because when I go to the Chase refer a friend page and put in my last name, zip, and last 4 of the card, it says that I'm not eligible to refer.

I applied for a new SP while I still had one open. I closed that card to get the new one approved (MBM) and I got the bonus.

What makes you think you wouldn't get the bonus?

I'm confused, what does that have to do with what he said -

I applied for a new SP while I still had one open.

Was wondering the same. Maybe the new one was part of a MBM.

Not everyone gets the benifit.
It's pretty targeted.

Tried to check at chasereferafriend.com?

I tried and it said that I am not eligible. That's why I asked how long after getting the card did people become eligible to refer.
