my father just successfully switched after having the card for a month or two. It actually was switched to the wmc preferred without asking specifically for that. you just have to try again(try exploiting the israel rental coverage)
also today he called recon for a 2nd visa SP which was originally denied bec. of the existing visa SP and after not giving up they approved him!!

You will see both cards listed on your account online (although one of them is closed). Every transaction you make will be reflected on both including your point balance. Don't get so excited when you see double amount of points, if you try switching out from one it will deduct from both.

lol! i tried transferring! it didn't work!

Every detail about the 2 accounts are identical, every purchase and credit show up in both and they both show the same original CL

Even the UR points both show up the same amount each.
(When I was playing around on the UR website I saw the option of transferring from one account to the other so I attempted a transfer from the Visa to the MC and on the the next screen it showed me that I would end up with double the miles, but when I submitted the transfer it still left me with the original amount in both accounts! too bad :(

What argument did he use to convince the rep he should have two Visa SP cards?

I called just now on mine and said, "I want to change from Visa to World MC" and after a minute he said "done"

That was easy

1 card was switched recently to the wmc. They gave him a hard time anyway, saying that they are both SP's so he can't have both. He was persistent w/o any real argument and after offering to split the cl they gave in.

Oh! But that isn't what you said:

...
you forgot to bold "originally"  also you didn't read the previous quote from me which said that he switched a visa SP to the wmc SP.
But, sorry for the misunderstanding. I will try to be clearer in the future

Thanks, I misread a post that (no offense) could have been written clearer so skimmers like me would understand what was said.

I plan on offering to close my Saph WMC and transfer the CL when I apply for the SPV again.

Is there any benefit the visa have but not the mc? Would need some argument and explain why you need a new visa when you have the mc.

Most dollar stores, as well as many international stores, only take Visa.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I'm a little confused. I'm on the phone with cs and they said that if I currently have the sapphire preferred visa, I can downgrade to a regular sapphire world master card but not to the sapphire preferred world master card (apparently they are not currently able to switch to the preferred mc). Is that what I want or I want the sapphire preferred world master card

Let them do the regular wmc, after you receive the card call in to upgrade

If I downgraded my Sapphire Preferred Visa to Sapphire regular (I didn't switch it to SP WMC), can I re-apply for the Preferred?
If yes, how long should I wait after the downgrade?

Can anyone answer? Thanks!

To churn chase cards: Reapply but change your name a bit, e.g. Chaim Yankel should be changed to Chayyem Yankil
It is all from Hashem and he will continue to give!
