What would be a reason to use to tell them why you want to close the mastercard and open the visa??  And also what would be a reason to downgrade to non preffered if im in middle of my first year(with annual fee waived)?? any help would be very appreciated.. thanx in advance
IME, a reason was not needed.

How do ppl explain closing or downgrading the SP visa and re-applying for the same card let's say a wk later. How do you explain to the rep why your reopening a card you just closed a wk ago? Thank you

Meant week later but ok let's say a month or so later. Is that late enough that they won't ask? Is that the point?

Yes suggested time frame is 30 days.

I had a SP mc and applied for the SP visa as part of a 3bm, the SP app did not even go through and got automatically rejected from the system as I had a similar product. so seems you should really downgrade rather than just switch from mc to visa.

No, that's exactly how it supposed to work, now you call with the reference # and say that you'd like to close the mc and open the visa, ime it was much easer then a standered recon for a declined card, as you weren't declined, only was rejected by the system because of already haveing a sp, so once you fix that problem (by haveing them close the visa), it should be pretty easy

Chase Sapphire Preferred - 55K Offer
« Reply #2373 on: November 18, 2013, 03:44:12 PM »
I just went to Chase website and saw new offer there. 50K Points - $3K spend. 3 months. 5K points - Authorised user. No first year fee. then $125.

https://creditcards.chase.com/credit-cards/sapphire-preferred-card.aspx?CELL=63WS&inkcashsplit=2&inkplussplit=1&sapphireprefsplit=4

1. Can we request for credit of point to Chase for already opened SP card last month and points not posted yet but spent and authorised user requirement are already met to upgrade existing offer of 40K points to 55K points?
2. Do you think this 55K points is now a regular Chase Preferred offer or it is temporary promotion?

Since when does Sapphire have a $125 annual fee?
Seems very suspicious.

Very interesting. If you go to chase's website and click on their link for the 40k card and then switch the 1 at the end of the URL to a 4 this is what comes up.

URL hacking is a risky business.  Could just be a beta page and you might not get anything.
I have no idea but I don't know of any other Chase cards with different annual fees like that.  SP has always been $95.

Just got approved to Sapphire Visa while having Sapphire MC with shifting most of the credit line, so now i have both versions. (still trying to figure out what is that good for)

Anyway is it safe to send SM requesting to be matched to these new sapphire offers or since i am not really eligible for them i can risk not getting them at all?

I will try matching to it and report back what happens.
