Have the SP, tried to downgrade and was told its not open a year yet. Have already two open Freedom cards. Would you recommend closing and applying again right away or any other ideas?

Why downgrade now? There's no fee the first year

If you apply now and it does come out within 60 days, you should be able to get matched. No need to really wait.
However, if they raise the minimum spend (and then also raise the bonus), it'll be a different product and you won't get matched, no?

Rumor is $4k, but no one knows for sure. I'm hoping for a higher bonus too.

Higher bonus is not happening.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

No need to wait. Just be prepared with an answer in case you call recon and they ask about it. Not that likely, but be prepared.

Thanks for the info! I was debating waiting (to see if there'd be a higher bonus), but decided to apply

I just applied for the Chase Ink about 2 months ago, applied yesterday for the Sapphire, and got accepted without any issues. It obviously depends on your credit score/history, but IMO it's worth a shot

It also depends how mu check you make and then how much credit line you have.
The total credit line of all cards should not be more the you earn.
