Found this business fare to NYC, pretty darn cheap and very good for those of us in Israel.

$1050 for the following example:

Outbound
Depart: LCA (Larnaca, Cyprus) - 6/29 @ 7:30PM
13.5 hour connection in CAI (I'm sure there's no problem "turning lemons into lemonade" with this one...)
Arrive: JFK - 6/30 3:15PM

Inbound
Depart: JFK - 7/21 @ 6:30PM
4.5 hour connection in CAI
Arrive: ATH (Athens, Greece) - 7/22 @ 6:30PM

Short, cheap one-ways can be found for both outbound and inbound.

Yes, but I think their business on the short hauls is Euro business, so doesn't really matter.

And regarding the angle flat -- read some reviews.  Apparently it's more or less lie flat, with every review that I've seen being favorable, including blogs like OMAAT.
