Capital one venture-is it a good card?
« on: May 15, 2011, 09:56:47 AM »
Hi all. I haven't seen much talk about the capital one venture card. But it seems like a very valuable card as you earn two points per dollar. Any thoughts?

It's good if you're spending a lot on travel, in situations where you wouldn't be using miles/points. Just make sure your application says two points per dollar. I've recently seen an application (came by mail) offering 1.25 points per dollar.

It's excellent if you were able to get 100,000 matching points - a free $1,000 in travel expenses!

Can't wait to get this again  :)

It's not a bad card, but the annual fee is steep.

I prefer Starpoints or CO miles where I personally derive much more value than 2 cents per point.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

if you travel last minute and only direct flights it is great - basicly equal to cash and your getting 2 points versus 1 point on other cards.  Also, you can book on any site or with a travel agent and redeem the points after it hits your card.
Airline cards give you greater value as you can fly bus. or first for 115,000 point range verses this would be the actual price of the ticket with 00 at the end usually 380,000 - 500,000 points but I guess you should /2 as the others mostly give you 1 point 160,000 - 250,000 points.
