« on: February 21, 2017, 06:18:23 PM »
Recently the chrome app was updated, it now updates passwords without asking me for example if i enter a security question it deems it a password update and saves it sometimes this is a major issue for me anyway to stop it?

LastPass just changed free version to where u can only use it either on computer or phone. I don't mind paying for premium but wanted to know if there was a better option than lastpass..

For free Bitwarden is now the king: https://bitwarden.com/

I switched to them (for one of my accounts) and they're pretty solid (missing some stuff, but having others better.) Check it out (you can Export LastPass passwords and Import to it.)

+1
As mentioned
Use a last pass manager
Not really the way to roll since the update to the "free" tier.

Here is an excellent article about LastPass vs. Bitwarden, which one is better:  https://www.safetydetectives.com/blog/lastpass-vs-bitwarden-is-an-open-source-password-manager-better/

I don't think I agree with the conclusion, but I don't think even for a paid password manager it's the best option these days (I haven't researched this extensively though).

I've used several of the paid ones over the years, and finally settled on Enpass, got lifetime license. Seems to work on all our devices and have a feature set similar to 1password, just a little more flexible.

Congratulations on our first post on DDF!

Interesting choice. Flexible in which areas?

I like having different templates for different types of information. Since we were really 1password fans for years, we had a lot of non password data in it, many different types of data. I have close to 4,000 records in Enpass. Enpass supports all those data types also, and imported all our data. I use ubuntu desktop, so, had to run on Linux but also automatically update multiple IOS clients (and vice versa). I also wanted to be able to be remote, without WiFi or cell even, and still have the data, be able to change it, and then just have it happen when I get back to civilization. We travel a lot to places with little if any cell coverage. I didn't want paid, but, keypass et al didn't meet our list of requirements, don't recall what the other free ones were missing off hand (been too long). We do also self host on Nextcloud, so, wanted it to be able to use that as well from Linux and IOS. I don't like cloud providers for various reasons (other than me). I like categories and tags as well. Many of these were available on other software, but, there was just always something missing.
