I bought a gift card for $1000 a month ago and amex refunded my gift card.Did this happen to anyone else?

I called the gift card dept ..after puting me on hold for 15 min he tells me it was my credit card company(amex ). So i call them and they say they didnt and it was the gift card dept.

I'm lost...

Like I mentioned elsewhere, I know of almost 50 gift cards like that, which were canceled.
They also got the same dumd run around

No no I happen to know most of the 50 guys who got the cards canceled and they tried calling but to no help.

Thanks..What do i do now because I bought the gift card to meet the $1000 threshold ,is it still counted? or i should try to order another gift card or thats just not smart bec they will get upset ?

In mÝ experience the points posted, so long as you were charged the 1000$ even if they refunded the $.
Go to point summary, and see if your pts are pending, if they are then you are good to go.

Actually I take that back it says May 1, 2011 Earned : Platinum Card®-11001 50,000 . But im confused on the main page it says Available Balance 0 . Im confused?

It should post on the main page eventually. When I called they said that my gift card was canceled because according to their records my gift card was still sitting on a shelf in the warehouse, so I must have gotten it inappropriately. I found that ironic because I bought it with Amex's credit card and on Amex's website!

If Amex cancelled the charge on the gift card, I assume they plan on taking back the 1000 points. Can I use those points before they get a chance to take them back? Is there any way that they can penalize me?

lol i think he mentioned something like it was funded inappropiately.

Had the same issue...they are a bunch of clowns over there. I would never consider buying an amex GC ever again...

refunded to the original cc used to purchase it? or a check?

btw for all you guys getting bounced back and forth bet the reg amex and gc dept, i got frustrated and sent amex an sm about it and they right away sent back that they are sorry and are crediting my account with $50 for the hassle! of course YMMV gluck
