« on: May 16, 2011, 11:39:41 PM »
I am looking for advice on how to monitor my credit. Any advice on whats the best way to do it? Do i use the services that monitor all 3 or do i go to each one seperatly?
Thanks,

good point, the only thing is it seems especially true in DDF because people dont write for the laymen, often if you search "credit monitoring" nothing will come up.

For instance I titled that thread "Identity Monitor Substitutes" so unless the guy is searching for "Identity Monitor" which is a credit monitoring service, he may not ever find the thread that really gives him the answer he wants/needs.

I once read a very insightful article about how the big blogging sites hire bloggers who know how to write posts that are informative and clever, while retaining the keywords (especially in the titles).

In more general terms: I often suggest to n00bs that they need to search as well as browse, and/or I give them a pointer on somewhere to start. The reason LMGTFY and other such sites work, is because Google really is my friend. Let's use your example. Do a Google search for "credit monitoring", then put the keywords from the first three results into the DDF searchbox and see what you find. I'll admit there's an art-side to searching as well, but people should at least try to tackle the science-side of it.

And for my inaugural post, I'll make a joke....

Give a man fire and he's warm for a day.
Set a man on fire and he's warm...
for the rest of his life.

 ;D

That out of the way, I'll add some serious content in the future...   8)
