This map begs for some questions to be asked, such as why do Michigan and Indiana observe Eastern time?

Idaho, the Dakotas (and possibly Montana) should also probably move over one time zone to the west.

At least here we have some checks and balances in the form of a House of Representatives, and a President that needs to sign it into law.

Contrast that with what went on in Jerusalem about two weeks ago, when something was up for a committee vote, all members were called out for consultation, and the committee chairman called for the vote and passed it by unanimous consent (he voted for it, and there was no-one present to vote against it).

Year round standard time would make zman KS get as early as 8:12 and zman tefilla as early as 9:27 in Lakewood. In BOS it would get earlier than 8:00

There are issues both ways, but the odds are very strong that it goes one way or the other, probably this decade.

I meant, most people are up at 8 or should be up at 8 and are not going to miss Sof Zman Krias Shema. Should definitely move this way and not the other way.

Sof Zman tefila and Sof Zman Krias Shema are not the same thing (unless you go with Kamarna shita that Sof Zman Krias Shema is also drabanan (he says that and the shois zmanius part only for bdieved, lkatchila everyone should conduct themselves according to the MA Zman).

I am skeptical that most people are up before 8 on shabbos when so many daven at minyanim starting 830 or later.
