Do both parents (most of the time) work in the Jewish community? If so I got the wrong impression.
I can't speak for all families with young children, but anecdotally it seems like more than 50% in Lakewood have 2 working parents.

This has changed over the past decade or so, so perhaps your conception was based on outdated knowledge.

Both full-time?
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

In the context of this conversation, yes; where parents wouldn't be able to watch their kids in the AM on a daily basis.

If it is dark when going to school what about starting school later?

As far prayers that is a non-issue as you can't satisfy all religions and should not try.
Once you get to that point what difference does it make if you change your clock or your schedule? BTW homedepot doesn't observe DST they just update their schedule when we change our clocks

Detroit should switch time zones (even without the new law). And Cleveland should probably do the same, but I'll leave that to @Dan to argue.

I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I guess @CountValentine can't imagine the gravity of the situation. Jews all over the US (joined by world Jewry) are observing a fast day today due to this!
