Opinion: The tyranny of clock changing for daylight saving needs to end

Note that all the suggested solutions involve staying in DST all year round,  a bit of a disaster for shacharis in the winter.

The article did not show causation.

Personally, I've been looking forward to switching the clock back ever since the fall.  I'd like DST year round, with an extra hour in the winter, maybe adjusted a few minutes per week instead of an hour in one shot.

The point of Daylight savings is to make more light when it's day - I.e when people are awake.
All year round DLS makes it dark until 7am+  you are borrowing from Peter to pay Paul.

Some good lines from it:
"People are advised to avoid scheduling anything important for 2:30 a.m. Sunday, since, by law, such a moment does not exist."

"Just to be clear: Astronomically, nothing is new under the sun. The sun will remain a star, radiating light, and Earth will continue to orbit the sun while spinning on an axis. The amount of sunshine will remain the same."
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

Why not have a compromise, of moving time zones to a 30 minute offset and staying there? (Though I'm in the camp of Year-Round Standard Time - I would look for pragmatic solutions that work for all).
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

What about keeping status quo, but switching back to changing in October and April instead of November and March?

Wouldn't a better solution for schools be to start an hour later, rather than have everyone change the clock?

I always like a new thing so all this talk is exciting but honestly why is 2-3 days of discomfort adjusting to the new time twice a yr worse than sunrise at 9am for several weeks ...I don’t get what the big deal is the way it is.

Law just passed making it permanent.
How does that affect Davening times?
Are some days gonna be crazy late?

Chanukah parties starting an hour later
Asara b'Teivas is an hour longer (effectively)
