They have an army of people at their disposal, you really think this is just a bad network config? Were closing in on 4 hours now
https://engineering.fb.com/2021/10/04/networking-traffic/outage/

Confirmed, was a network misconfiguration.

Crazy that FB, IG, and WA now all go down in tandem.
Seems like a poor design choice.

Any tech company of Facebook's size has this. Google, Microsoft, Amazon. It's a function of scale, not arrogance. (Though I fully agree that Facebook is toxic and really needs to die.)

Single point of failure??? No, not really. It goes against all the rules of proper IT and security planning.

It wasn't a single point of failure - they just updated/misconfigured all of their backbone routers at the same time so their entire network was taken offline. If anything it was a process failure, not an architectural flaw.

Every large tech company which owns its own data centers has similar network topology. Do you really think that Amazon routes any of its traffic through e.g. Google's data centers?

And the fact that this seems to be a relatively frequent occurrence, brings everything the company owns down, and seems to happen much more often, much more widespread, and much longer than the other FAANGs also tells me something is seriously wrong with the setup.

Lol outages like this happen all the time at other big tech companies, they're just not as consumer facing so you're not aware of it. For example, Microsoft's Azure has network related outages all the time (talking from personal experience), but they rarely make the news because they don't directly affect as many people.

So, you're proving my point that something is wrong at FB?
When is the last time that everything consumer facing at Google or Microsoft went down? Versus the several times a year that everything consumer facing goes down at FB?
